Finally, they urge her to clear out her cave of memorabilia from past relationships. For weeks, she wallows in her room, with her roommates’ support. The kind Nick takes her home while she describes the gallery fiasco. At the gallery opening, instead of Max asking her to move in, she is both dumped for his ex Amelia and fired.ĭrunk and despondent, Lucy climbs into Nick’s car, believing it’s her Lyft. Her friends and roommates, law student Amanda and model Nadine, hear her talking non-stop about him. The plot follows a 20-something in New York City who gets dumped by her latest boyfriend and creates an art gallery to display items from people's previous relationships. In fact, it's entirely possible that Lucy may ultimately end up sending Nick a "broken heart" object from their relationship, which could then be a solid set-up for The Broken Hearts Gallery 3.The Broken Hearts Gallery is a 2020 romantic comedy film written and directed by Natalie Krinsky, in her directorial debut. As of now, Nick appears to be committed to The Broken Heart Hotel and his girlfriend, but Lucy's professional goals may take her elsewhere. Expect The Broken Hearts Gallery 2to begin in Brooklyn but perhaps end with Lucy considering a big move. A little more narrative substance would've benefitted the original film, but everything is in place for a more emotionally impactful sequel. Nick has referenced his upbringing in Wisconsin, and Lucy has clearly been affected by her mother's dementia. The Broken Hearts Gallery 2 could stick with the basic premise but dive deeper into the characters' backstories. Eva also hosts Lucy's Broken Hearts show, and Nick reveals that he changed his hotel name to The Broken Heart Hotel. The couple's romance is briefly interrupted by the appearance of Lucy, who receives a tour of the hotel built in her name (and receives nothing more than that, according to Nick). In the final act of The Broken Hearts Gallery, Nick discovers that Lucy arranged for her boss, Eva Woolf (Peters), to be an anonymous co-signer for his much-needed loan. The Broken Hearts Gallery co-stars Philippa Soo, Molly Gordon, Arturo Castro, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Bernadette Peters. Both characters are indeed unlucky in love, and they form a stronger connection by curating objects from failed relationships. After the awkward first meeting, the two Brooklynites bond while discussing Nick's business venture, the Chloe Hotel, and also while spontaneously creating a new art project called The Broken Hearts Gallery. The inevitable "meet-cute" happens when Lucy enters the vehicle of Nick (Montgomery), who is mistaken for an Uber driver, and comedically unloads her feelings. Starring Australian actors Geraldine Viswanathan ( Blockers) and Dacre Montgomery ( Stranger Things), The Broken Hearts Gallery adheres to romantic comedy tropes from beginning to end. Lucy (Viswanathan), the assistant to a well-known New York City gallerist, struggles with her personal and professional confidence after failing to capitalize on a big work opportunity.
